James Rodriguez came out from the start at Colombia’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers

On October 10th, 2020, midfielder Everton played 74 minutes in the match between Colombia and Venezuela in the World Cup qualifying round of 2022.

Against Venezuela, the only South American team that has never reached the World Cup final, coach Carlos Queiroz added many stars to Colombia’s starting lineup. Juan Cuadrado, Luis Muriel, Davinson Sanchez, and James Rodriguez, who are in high form at Everton, all started from the start.

Colombia showed an overwhelming stance from the first minutes. 16 minutes, from James’s pass, Cuadrado came down from the right before launching a cross to Duvan Zapata to score the opening goal. This is Atalanta’s fourth goal for the national team.

Then, Muriel was the one who scored the double in the 26th and 45th minutes to secure a 3-0 victory for Colombia before the first half ended. In the second half, with the advantage of 3 leading goals, coach and coach Queiroz actively played to slow down. However, that is not enough for Venezuela to have an honorable table in this match.

After 74 minutes, James took a break to make way for Steven Alzate. Radamel Falcao was also introduced to replace Zapata. Falcao owned the most notable opportunity in the second half after Alfredo Morelos and Alzate’s pass combination. However, the former Atletico Madrid striker lacked power and could not beat goalkeeper Wilker Farinez.

Colombia also faces personnel problems when defender Santiago Arias is seriously injured. He lay in the backyard of the collision in the 8th minute. The striker was diagnosed with a fracture of the tibia and fibula. The official announcement about Arias’s injury has not been made. However, this player is likely to have to retire for a long time.

James is reviving his form at Everton

James did not directly score and assist in this match but contributed to the overall play of the Colombian team. The midfielder in 1991 is in high form in the UK after joining Everton in the summer transfer window of 2020.

Under the guidance of coach Carlo Ancelotti, James is the number one inspiration at Goodison Park. He made four appearances in the Premier League this season, scoring 3 goals and having two assists. In the national shirt color, James also has 22 goals after 76 appearances.

On October 14, Queiroz teachers and teachers will face Chile before the end of the national team focus.
